I would like to be able to securely create and maintain notes in similar format to this blog. Notes would be securely created and maintained off-line, referenced and shared via email and SMS text on-demand. Notes can currently be stored in the contacts notes field or in a Finder text file. Contact based notes are searchable in contact title and in contents. File based notes are currently searchable in filename only. I would like to be able to import several thousand notes from Evernote and have the content be fully searchable. An approach that I think can be effective is to store each note in a file and then use Lucene for search. This approach worked well for us on another project where we have indexed 50,000 files and search is still instant. Other key aspects are import, export, and formatting. For export it seems html, md, rtf and basic text are the most obvious. For import, full Evernote support is complex and perhaps beyond easy implementation, but partial Evernote support is possible. Are there OneNote users out there? Other note formats to consider? Thoughts appreciated.
